The Black College Expo Returns to Los Angeles

Summary

The Black College Expo expands to full service as The College Expo with an array of year round services for underserved students and their families to help with college, careers and beyond. TCE returns to Los Angeles on Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 South Figueroa Street with an after-show from 4-6 p.m. The expo helps thousands of students and their parents with workshops on such topics as "How to Afford the High Cost of College" and "Planning for College-How to Get In, Stay In and Graduate." Attendees will be provided opportunities to meet with various colleges, including historically black cplleges and universities (HBCUs) and other institutions. Industry representatives will also be actively recruiting students for internship and career opportunities.

With high school graduation rates dropping, and the drop-out rate increasing, The College Expo has taken dramatic steps to work with collaborative partners to lessen this trend by exposing imderserved youth to valuable, exciting programs, heightening their interest and participation in getting a college degree and becoming assets to their communities.
