Summary


Ms. [Chimbuko Tembo] is currently the assistant director of the African American Cultural Center and Vice Chair of the organization Us, a social and cultural change organization. A graduate of Black Studies from California State University, Long Beach, she has lectured extensively on the African American holiday of Kwanzaa, Kawaida, womanism and Black Studies in general. In addition, she has served as a lecturer in Black Studies at CSU Long Beach. Ms. Tembo is also publisher of the University of Sankore Presst which was founded by a group of African American women and serves the large and constantly growing Black Studies reading audience.

An activist for women's and womanist issues, she is chair of the Senut Sisterhood, a Sisterhood of the World African Community which directs a mentoring program for young women. [...] Ms. Tembo is a Seba, a moral teacher in the Kawaida Maat tradition and lectures on Maat, the moral ideal in ancient Egypt.
