That's why she came up with the idea of giving away her three-bedroom, one and a quarter-bath house in View Park. The house will go to the winner of an essay contest called "Love Deserves a home," which requires a story in one hundred words or less on why someone deserves to move in. The contest kicked off on Valentine's Day this year and will run through March 31.

"It's centrally located, in the heart of L.A. It's a very nice neighborhood. It's the kind of neighborhood where you wouldn't mind your grandmother walking down the street. The property values range anywhere from $750,000 to over $1 million...

"I went to school here. I went to USC for business administration. I'm in investment real estate. I'm not an activist or advocate, just a lady who's giving away a house," [Mi McFall] said.
