Summary
On the other side of that political discussion is the Republican Party. Some people of Afrikan descent join this party because they feel politically comfortable with its philosophy. Some want to gain brownie points with their white friends. Others even think it will fully include them in the club, in spite of their skin color. This is true with four or five figure donations. One individual equated being in the Republican Party the same as having a noose around your neck and praising those who put it there. Then there are those who truly feel joining the Republican Party would allow them the ability to bring about change so that the concerns of people of Afrikan descent would be considered. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did say, "I have a dream."
