"This resolution expresses the concerns of the State of California that international efforts to end the crisis in the Sudan's Darfur region be stepped-up," said Assemblyman [Mervyn Dymally]. "This is in keeping with our national policy, which has officially declared that genocide is occurring in Darfur. Despite significant pressure from the government of the United States, the government of the Sudan has not taken all the necessary actions to disassociate itself fully from the fighting there," he said.
