Henri R. Ford, M.D., who is currently professor and chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery and surgeon-in-chief at Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, has been named vice president and chief of the Department of Surgery at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and vice chair for clinical affairs in the Department of Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, according to a joint announcement made by Childrens Hospital Los Angeles President and CEO Walter W. Noce, Jr., and Keck School of Medicine Dean Brian E. Henderson, M.D.

Noce said that Vernon T. Tolo, M.D., head of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and director of the Childrens Orthopaedic Center, will continue as acting chief of the Department of Surgery at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles until Ford begins his assignment at Childrens Hospital. Tolo is the John C. Wilson, Jr., Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine.

An attending surgeon at Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh since 1993, and a member of the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine since 1993, Ford is co-director of the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Magee-Women's Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh. He has directed both the Benedum Trauma Program and Pediatric, Surgical Research at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he holds the Benjamin R. Fisher Chair in Pediatric Surgery.
