Foundation Steps Up It's Campaign Against Drugs

Summary

This foundation has evolved the Truth About Drugs campaign over the past five years and has distributed over ten thousand booklets into the LA area. Many community programs in South LA have received booklets, including Kids Day LA, National Nite Out, Back To School Festival and the LA County Sheriff's Clergy Council's Community Day for four years in a row, as well as Friends Serving Friends for three years running, and twice at African Marketplace and Mel's Block and additionally some LA Rec and Parks events and programs.

The booklets are well received by adults and youth alike all over the communities and several groups have been given booklets to help support their own drug education programs. One youth from Mel's Block party said," I think this booklet will have an impact on kids, now, so they won't take drugs later."

It was established to meet the increasing demand for the international "Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life" drug prevention program, which has been conducted around the world for more than 20 years by members of Scientology churches in collaboration with the interfaith community, volunteer organizations, educational institutions and government agencies.
