Gauchos Gobble Up City Favorite, Dorsey, in Impressive Fashion 21-7

Summary

Dorsey received a gallant effort from quarterback Keith Charles who started his first High School football game. Dorsey managed a hefty running game behind the leadership of the Johnson's [Jeremiah Johnson] and Stafon. "Well, we expect that at Dorsey, we run the ball well, we have some outstanding backs," coach [Paul Knox] said. "We made young mistakes but we'll be alright."

The Dons got no breaks on the road as they opened the game with an illegal substitution flag that sent the Dons backwards. After a three and out series Dorsey punts and Narbonne began to rol Gaucho running back Major Colbert burst around the corner for a 17-yard gain to open the series. Converted running back Lamont Long had a steady opener at quarterback. Long completed his first pass to running back Kristian Thomas for a gain of 22, giving the Gauchos a 1st and goal early in the opening quarter. Linebacker Bobby Epps wasn't having it as he crashed his body into Gaucho running back Major Colbert stopping a potential touchdown. Whatever the Dons lack on the depth chart they make for with heart and toughness. The Dons put up a mighty goal line stand early in the first quarter as Dorsey Defensive end Keith Browner sacked Lamont Long for a 7-yard loss on the next play. Long would get his revenge on the play after as he churned around the outside for a 12-yard touchdown run, giving Narbonne a 7-0 lead.

The Dons came out banging the Narbonne offense in the 3rd quarter. Dorsey kept Narbonne in check holding them to a scoreless 3rd quarter. Dons junior linebacker Bobby Epps led the way by sacking Long, stopping another Gauchos scoring drive.
