Looking Beyond the Tragedy at Gramercy Place

Summary

It's a sobering and heart wrenching thought-a mother looking into the eyes of her children and deliberately ending their lives when she is the giver of life. How could she have extinguished their bright lights, denying them the opportunity live out and up to their human potential? As a mother of two sons whom I love dearly I cannot fathom how the deep and hallowed bond we ascribe to" motherhood" was severed. Yet in [LaTonya]'s case,it seems to have snapped. According to stories I've read, those who knew her were taken aback at what happened citing that from what they saw she was a wonderful and caring mother.

Somehow I think LaTonya didn't see a future in the morass tot encompassed her. Instead, it consumed her. Her statement, 'I've wasted my life," signals that.

According to police accounts, she finally put the gun down and was arrested without injury. According to stories I've read, those who knew her were taken aback at what happened citing that from what they saw she was a wonderful and caring mother.
