Louisiana Organizes Pet Recovery Efforts

Summary


The American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is also contributing to rescue and relief efforts of pets affected by Hurricane Katrina. The organization has committed more than one million dollars in disaster relief funds for animals.

The Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine is managing animal evacuations and recovery plans for New Orleans pets and displaced animals, together with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, Louisiana Animal Control Association and Louisiana State University AgCenter.
