Parks and Wesson Ready for Second Term

Summary


Councilman [Bernard Parks] wants to make sure his constituents know what he's about. Perhaps that's why he campaigned for his reelection to the seat as if someone were running against him. Tuesday, Parks celebrated the beginning of what will be his second term in office at M&M's Soul Food in Leimert Park.

"We need to say, 'If we're good enough for you to sit in the front rows of our churches and ask for votes, then we're good enough to show up during your term in office and ask where are you and. have you done what you [said] you're going to do.'"

We're talking about 40,000 people in the gang file. A violent gang member who has had a history of criminal activity, we've not had a lot of success in rehabilitating him. But we've had a great deal of success in keeping young people out of the system and from becoming a gang member.
