Unfortunately, many people are told to drink milk and eat dairy foods to avoid or alleviate osteoporosis, but the high protein content in milk more than offsets the calcium it provides, so milk may actually lead to calcium loss.

To help your body prevent and fight disease from flu to cancer, your immune system must be highly efficient. Avoiding foods high in fat and cholesterol, as most animal foods are, and getting regular aerobic exercise are the best prescriptions for good health. Weight training is also helpful in preventing bone loss.

From meat, poultry, fish and dairy foods are called complete proteins because they furnish the amino acids needed for growth. Proteins are considered complete when they contain all nine essential amino acids in a sufficient quantity and ratio to meet the body's needs.
