Because this part of the brain isn't fully developed in those formative years, individuals aren't adept at thinking through the consequences of their actions and are extremely vulnerable to engaging in risky behavior and making bad choices, like the recent spate of headline grabbing celebritantes. While age 21 signals some magical induction into adulthood, it simply isn't. And this is the time, more than ever, when these young adults need guidance, mentoring and close observations because their choices can literally wreck their entire lives. But just try convincing a bull-headed young adult of this scientific fact. It's an exercise in utter frustration.

This $130 million dollar man had it all. And the answer to "what the heck was he thinking" when he got involved in this blood thirsty sport as early 2001 when he had signed on with the Falcons at age 21 - is "he wasn't thinking at all." It's truly a mystery to inquiring minds.

On the surface they seem to have all the advantages in life - wealth, fame, and youth - yet it seems their rite of celebrity-hood includes either abusing their celebrity status, become substance abusers, abusing the law and any combination of the aforementioned.
