Question: What is your comment on the fact that Hampton University, an Historically Black College/University (HBCU), and my alma mater, recently selected Nikole Churchill, a non-Black, in the Miss Hampton University Scholarship Pageant?

SHARON PASCHALL, Executive Assistant Glendale, CAWhile one may expect an HBCU to select a Black campus queen, we must realize that the winner is a student and is entitled to all of the privileges of student enroll-ment, including participation in the Miss Hampton University Pageant.

Good for her! JOHN HARRIS, Attorney at Law, Glendale, CA-If there are significant numbers of nonminority students enrolled in the school's regular programs, it is certainly appropriate for them to select a non-Black student as Miss Hampton University.
