Tina Turner (born as Anna Mae Bullock, November 26, 1939) is an American singer and actor whose career has spanned over 40 years and who has won numerous awards. Her achievements in the rock music genre have led to her being referred to as "The Queen of Rock 'n' Roll." She has also had leading roles in major movies.Church taught at a Black secondary school in Washington, DC and at Wilberforce College, a historically "Proud Mary" remains Turner's signature hit and one of her longest enduring standards. "Proud Mary" was the duo's greatest commercial success, became number four on the Billboard 100 in March 1971. Black history has been recognized" annually since i 926, first as Negro History Week, then officially becoming Black History Month in 1976.
Carter G. Woodson, historian, educator, and author launched Negro History Week as an initiative to bring national attention throughout American history.Woodson chose the second week of February for Negro History Week because it marks the birthdays of two men who greatly impacted the American Black population, Abraham Lincoln, February 12. and Frederick Douglass, February 14.African American women have been achievers throughout history. Sadie Iola Daniel pointed out this fact in an early volume of biographies entitled "Women Builders" in 1931.She identified and praised many important African American women.
